A motor vehicle accident in Louisiana has resulted in the arrest of one man. The collision occurred early in the morning and involved a single motor vehicle. Authorities investigated the fatal accident immediately, which revealed that a 29-year-old man was driving his truck along the roadway before losing control. In an attempt to regain control, the driver over-corrected.
The truck then flipped. The driver suffered moderate injuries during the course of the collision and required treatment; one passenger suffered minor injuries. The other passenger, a 26-year-old man, was ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. This single-vehicle accident had serious results for all three occupants.
Officials suspect that speeding and impairment both played a role in the motor vehicle accident. The driver deemed to be responsible has been arrested and is facing charges for vehicular homicide, DWI and negligent injuring, among others. Authorities reported that seven other drivers were arrested for drinking while intoxicated on the same night. Fortunately, most were not involved in motor vehicle accidents.
Driving under the influence or other impairments puts the driver and everyone else on the road at a greater risk of danger. This fatal accident in Louisiana had heartbreaking consequences for all of the occupants and especially for the family members of one victim in this truck. Victims of similar car crashes may have the right to file civil claims for the injuries or damages that they have suffered. There are legal professionals who have experience with these situations and can assist victims as they work through the process.
