Burn injury victims typically must undergo extensive medical treatment. For more severe cases, it may be necessary to perform multiple surgeries and skin grafts. Patients may also require extensive physical therapy, rehabilitation and medicine.

While the cost of burn injury treatment is enormous, it is nothing compared to the pain and suffering felt by burn injury victims. Depending on the severity of the burn, the pain can last for years, even a lifetime. The injured person may not be able to work or enjoy everyday activities. He or she may not even be able to go outside in certain types of weather and may be limited in clothing options.
